What we do

Ripe sea buckthorn berries clustered on a branch in sunlight

Organic sea buckthorn from Estonia

We produce organic high-quality (high nutrition value and large in size) berries. Due to our innovative late-harvest method, the flavours of our berries are milder, less acidic, and more pleasant on the palate.

Sea buckthorn propagation

Care starts from the very beginning. Our sea buckthorn nursery, as our plantations, is located on the island of Hiiumaa, where we produce young plants for our own use but also for wholesale.

Recipes and know-how

We are collaborating with our partners to manufacture sea buckthorn products according to our own special and unique recipes and knowledge acquired over the decades of working with this plant.

IQF Organic Seaberries

Freshness from Field to Freezer

Our berries are taken to the cold storage plant for processing on the day of harvesting, assuring the ultimate freshness of the product. Berries are frozen by IQF, then go through initial removal of large branches and leaves.

Semi-cleaned berries are then sent to electronic sorting (Sortex Niagara/Sortex Buhler). The processing plant meets the ISO2200:2005 standards and has the certificate for processing and storage of organic berries.

Versatile, Nutrient-Rich, and Vibrant.

Nutritional components

Sea buckthorn is valued for its diverse nutrient profile, with over 200 identified bioactive components found in the berries, leaves, and seeds. These include flavonoids, plant sterols, fatty acids (including omega-7), organic acids, and a broad spectrum of vitamins such as A, C, E, K, and several B-group vitamins (B1, B2, B6, B12). In addition, sea buckthorn contains amino acids, dietary fibre, and essential macronutrients.

Minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium, and iron are also present in notable amounts. Studies have measured the antioxidant capacity of sea buckthorn and described its bioactive compounds as relevant in the development of health-supporting food products. The berry’s natural profile makes it a useful ingredient in products aimed at providing a broad range of nutrients from plant-based sources.
